Kirby Super Star
Quite a while back I recieved Kirby Superstar for the Super Nintendo. It has been quite some time since the last
time I played, but I recently decided to go back and see how well it has aged. Not surprisingly, it has aged very
well. There are 9 games on here, and each of them are fun in their own way. If you haven't played this game, I
suggest doing so the day they release it on the Virtual Console. With a numerous amount of games that are each
unique, there is something to please everyone.
(Also, these aren't screenshots I took.)
Story:
Spring Breeze- Someone steals all of the food in Dream Land, and Kirby must get it back. This is the easiest game,
and is made for beginners.

Gourmet Race- Kirby and De De De race to see whom can eat the most food, and win in a race.

Dyna Blade- Well, you have to battle a bird named Dyna Blade after beating a few levels. You must beat this game to
unlock Revenge of the Meta-Knight.

The Great Cave Offensive- Kirby falls in a cave, and must battle to find his way out, while searching for treasure.

Revenge of the Meta-Knight- Meta-Knight tries to take over dream land with the Halberd and Kirby must battle him to
save Dream Land.

Milky Way Wishes- To unlock you must beat Spring Breeze, Gourmet Race, Dyna Blade, The Great Cave Offensive, and
Revenge of the Meta-Knight. Kirby travels from world to world trying to get the sun and the moon to stop fighting.

Arena- You battle the game's 19 monsters with having only five maximum tomatoes. You also get to choose what power
you want to start with. To play this you must beat the six games above this one.

Megaton Punch- A mini-game to try to get the highest max power. If you get more than the three opponents you win.

Samarai Kirby- A suspenseful game where you try to beat you opponent to striking after the flag comes up. There are
five opponents you must beat to win.
Controls:
Control Pad moves Kirby. B button makes Kirby jump or fly if you repeatedly press it. A cancels you helper and
knocks out your power, or if there is no helper, you create one. You can either have another person be the helper,
or the computer. Y is to attack. In Milky Way Wishes X is to change powers. All the controls are responsive, and if
you press start while having a power it explains how to use all of the techniques.
If I didn't explain them very well, there is an in game guide to teach you.
Graphics:
Some of the best Kirby graphics are in this game from bright and cheery to dark and mysterious. All of the
foregrounds and backgrounds are detailed, as are Kirby and the enemies. For all of Kirby's abilities, there are
awesome sprites for them and their different attacks. Everything moves smoothly and swiftly and detail remains lush
while moving.
Sound:
This is one of my favorite things about a Kirby game. All of the music and sound effects are of good quality. Most
of the music is very catchy. It's a lot like other Kirby games so if you like the style of music in them, this one
will not disappoint. Also, because some of the music is remixed from older music, it may sound farmiliar to you.
Gameplay:
This is where it counts, and it's ultimately where Kirby shines the most. In most of the games, you run around in a
2d world with a little pink character named Kirby. Kirby likes to eat a lot, and can swallow enemies and take their
powers. Kirby can also run, fly, float, and ride on the Warp Star. There are many different powers which are easy to
use, but difficult to master, from breathing fire to wielding a giant hammer. There are nine games to choose from,
after you unlock them all, and they are all fun in their own way. All of them are something different to do from
racing to eat the most and win a race, to saving Dream Land from Meta-Knight. Also, you can play with another person
on most of the games, and it's even more fun with a friend.
Replay Value:
The replay value in this game is high, especially if you have someone to play it with. You'll want to complete the
game with everything, and finding all of the secrets can be tricky at times. Sometimes you travel with powers to
find a certain treasure in The Great Cave Offensive, just to find you brought the wrong ones. Every few months I get
the urge to pop my copy into my Super Nintendo and try to beat it as fast as I can. I suggest you buy this game when
it comes out on the Virtual Console, it won't disappoint. (Well, unless you don't like fun games)
Overall: It's a fantastic game, but like all Kirby games, it's just too short. It's personally one of my favorite
games, and I hope you enjoy it, if this convinces you to pick it up.
